Five Facts About The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan
We are only a little more than a month away from the The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan release. To get you in the mood for this new interactive horror, we have gathered seven facts about the game’s eerie atmosphere and production. Check out below why The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan is one of the most anticipated horror games of 2019.
1. Supermassive Games is the studio responsible for developing the 2015 PS4 hit, Until Dawn. Until Dawn has similar gameplay mechanics to Man of Medan, recounting the tale of unlucky young adults dealing with seemingly supernatural forces. We’re sure that fans of Until Dawn can’t afford to miss the improvements and novelties that Man of Medan has to offer!
2. Man of Medan’s plot starts pretty light-hearted but soon transitions into a hellish sequence of events. After taking part in a boat party, (which could very well be their last celebration in life) a group of friends decide to dive into the deep sea to check the sunken wreckage of an antique ship. Perhaps, if the protagonists of Man of Medan knew the events that expected them, they would have thought twice before diving in.
3. Your role as the player is to make quick decisions and actions during the course of this chilling interactive drama. To help you, there is a unique feature in all the anthology games, starting with Man of Medan, called “dark pictures.” Once you find one of them, your character will sense a premonition of events that can happen in the future. It’s up to you to interpret these visions correctly and possibly save the protagonists from their doomed fates.
4. To create the ship’s dark atmosphere in the game, producers received the chance to visit a real World War II style vessel to witness its decaying aesthetic and ambient sound.
5. Man of Medan is actually the first chapter of The Dark Pictures branded anthology of horror games made by Supermassive Games. “They’re all independent games. The stories and characters aren’t connected. As an anthology, when you have more than one game out, you can start wherever you like. You don’t have to start with game one,” said James Scalpello, head of marketing, during an interview with Venture Beat.
The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan is set to release on August 30th for PS4, Xbox One and PC (via STEAM). You can expect more news and features about this highly anticipated game here on our website, so stay tuned!
