Equipment and Upgrades in Bless Unleashed
One of the most important aspects in any RPG is keeping your character’s equipment up to date. In Bless Unleashed, this no different. The gear and equipment you find in your adventures throughout Lumios are incredibly important. But as with many things in Lumios, there is more than what meets the eye upon initial inspection to any piece of gear.
Understanding Gear Quality
The most important thing to remember when looking at a new piece of gear in Bless Unleashed is not the Gear Score, or even the attack, or defense score on the piece. Even the special abilities which appear on some equipment is secondary to the tier of the equipment.
Item Tiers
All gear in Bless Unleashed falls into a tier, lettered from E to A, with A being the highest tier currently possible. As a general rule, items in the E tier will always be of lower quality than items in the D tier, and so on, up to the A tier. However, if you are not looking at the tier of an item, you may be confused by the stats of a new found item of a higher tier if you have been fortifying your equipment.
Item Grades
The second thing to consider when appraising a piece of gear is the item’s grade. Item grade in Bless Unleashed ranges from common to epic grades, and can be identified easily based on the color of the item. It is also important to note that once a piece of gear has been enhanced enough, you can upgrade an item from one grade to the next through the enhancement system.
This chart should help to explain how item tiers and grades can affect the power of your equipment.
Enhancement and Fortification
Enhancing gear is an incredibly important part of managing your equipment as you advance in Bless Unleashed. Each piece of gear in Bless Unleashed can have its fortification level increased by Enhancement up to five times before it must be upgraded in order to further its power. The only exception to this is some very low level E tier gear. Each time a piece of gear’s fortification level is increased, the attack/defense stat on the gear is increased, as is the equipment’s gear score. Enhancement costs will vary by the current fortification level and grade of the equipment being enhanced. Initially, the cost will be only in gold, but later levels of enhancement will require artifact shards or artifact cores depending on the grade of the equipment.
Upgrades
Once a piece of gear has been enhanced enough to have its fortification level increased to level five you must upgrade the item to the next grade before you can continue to fortify it. Upgrading a piece of gear will require at least one enhancement stone. When an item is upgraded, its fortification level is reset to zero, and you may continue to fortify it up to level five before needing to upgrade it again.
Risks With Enhancement
The first pieces of gear you acquire will be fairly easy to enhance as there is no chance of failure when enhancing an item of lower grades (Common/Grey or Uncommon/Green). However, once you begin enhancing Rare/Blue or higher grade items, there is a chance that an enhancement can fail. In the event that an enhancement fails, the item will lose two fortification levels and break. It is not possible for an item to go down a grade due to failure, and items with no fortification levels will not break in the process, but the materials spent on the enhancement attempt will always be consumed.
When an item breaks due to a failed enhancement attempt, it will lose some of its power and both the gear score and base stats of the item will be lowered. You can repair a broken item by using a repair tool or by sacrificing the same item of any tier to repair it. This process will also require some gold in order to complete.
This is just the most basic of information needed to understand how to find the valuable equipment upgrades you’ll need to survive the dangers of Bless Unleashed. The most important thing to remember is to not only look at the base level stats of an item when searching for an upgrade, but also to look at what a piece of gear could be once it has been enhanced to a level similar to the equipment you’re currently wearing. If you can remember this, you’ll have a much easier time finding new and exciting equipment during your time in Lumios!
