Ordo University, named for its founder, the great Wizard Ordo, was founded at the end of the Old Empire. It is the largest university and research institute in the southern part of The Federation. 

Ordo and his disciples were an enthusiastic group of scholars researching new magical truths when the university was founded in a small monastery outside of Carzacor.

At that time, its primary purpose was actually meant as a more conservative alternative to magical education by the elves, whose methods were gaining in popularity at the time. In addition to magical instruction, the University also began teaching general classes to those seeking education after the fall of the empire. Some believe Ordo and his followers to have been members of the Savantis, a fringe group of magical scholars which rejected elven insights to magic as inferior to their own.

Over time, magical studies at the university dwindled and were replaced by general education studies. Instead, liberal arts became the primary focus of the institution. However, to this day special commitment to the search for the truth and research remains at the Ordo University, continuing the great wizard’s legacy.
