She’s your “guy in the chair” when you need it, and when push comes to shove, she’s not afraid to fire a few shots to fend off the baddies. Meet Haroona’s secret weapon!

Early Steps of a Quaestor.

Born under the shadow of colonialism in Congo, Buchra’s mother was determined to give her a better life by securing her passage to Paris when she was a child. There, under the care of a young watchmaker and his wife, Buchra discovered the wonders of science and technology.

More at home with tech than with people, she immersed herself in textbooks and theories, eventually becoming the youngest woman in France to complete a dual degree in engineering and classical mechanics.

Buchra’s journey took an exciting turn when she was introduced to Luther, a founder of the Leap Year Society (LYS). Despite her usual social discomfort, Buchra felt an affinity to him.

Luther, who had seen his fair share of Quaestors at that point, recognized Buchra’s incredible mind. He also intuited that, without some guidance, she may have a hard time navigating the social aspect of the Society. He took her under his wing and offered to be her mentor.

She flourished within the LYS, embracing their quest to unlock the mysteries of the universe. Her fresh insights and understanding brought a new perspective to old puzzles, making her an invaluable member of the society.

She finally felt as though she’d found her place.

An Urgent Mission.

When the Ascendants split from the LYS, triggering the Great Divide, Buchra’s world was rocked. She of course remained loyal to the LYS and pledged to help save and rebuild the splintered Society alongside Luther.

However, when Luther recruited Haroona to join their mission to stop Vincent and the Ascendants, Buchra had her doubts. Haroona’s reckless and unpredictable nature was a stark contrast to her belief in a cosmic order based on rules.

The two are distinct types of Quaestors. Haroona has spent years working with Reika to develop her innate Umbric abilities. Buchra may have soaked up all the knowledge the LYS has to share about the Sahin and the Fold, but she has none of Haroona’s otherworldly skills.

Buchra lives in books, relying on science and analytical thinking to inch us closer to understanding the mysteries of the universe, including the Fold. Haroona is whip-smart herself, and Reika has tutored her on numerous diverse subjects, but she admittedly does not have the passion for learning that drives Buchra.

An unlikely friendship at the heart of Unknown 9: Awakening.

Throughout the course of Awakening, Buchra and Haroona find mutual respect that grows into a close friendship. The urgency and danger of their journey (this is an action-adventure game, after all!) takes Buchra out of her comfort zone, and Haroona is there to back her up.

The two experience great victories and crushing losses together, and in the end they’re like sisters. When they part ways, it’s bittersweet.

Buchra’s journey from the Congo to the heart of the LYS is a testament to her resilience and determination. Her story is a blend of personal growth, friendship, and the relentless pursuit of knowledge.
